Claire Brown is a leader in the artisan cut flower industry which continues to grow in popularity in the UK.
She has 28 years’ experience in horticulture including garden centre management, garden design and as a speaker and advisor at RHS Wisley.
Claire has drawn from her horticultural knowledge and experience to create a unique flower farm in Surrey called Plantpassion, selling to florists, DIY brides and local flower lovers. She is a member of Flowers from the Farm a multi award-winning, not-for-profit, co-operative of British cut flower growers.
Her British Flowers Book was conceived in 2016 after answering many florists’ questions about which flowers and colours were available across the year. Emma Davies photographed the flower fields across two full years, and a whole host of wonderful British florists took part in showing off what can be done with seasonal flowers throughout the year.
It is a beautiful book and the ultimate guide on British flowers and especially useful as a reference for florists to answer customers’ questions.
Plantpassion, like many other flower farms and florists across the country, offers no contact delivery of bunches and bouquets, and her local following for fresh farm grown blooms has grown immensely. Claire also runs workshops and talks on growing and floristry and also garden consultations; Claire is an inspiring and effective educator.
