We are proud to bring British Flowers Week to you for the seventh year of New Covent Garden Market’s campaign. The weeklong celebration is set to unite florists, flower growers, wholesalers and flower lovers, encouraging them to put Britain’s best blooms on display across the UK to show support for the country’s floral industry.
This year, New Covent Garden Market’s campaign to support British-grown flowers will see five of Britain’s top florists exhibit innovative installations at the Garden Museum, from the 11th- 16th June, using flowers from the Flower Market. With Media Partner Gardens Illustrated, this year’s theme is ‘Memories’ and the florists; Ruth Davis from All for Love, Terri Chandler and Katie Smyth from Worm, Graeme Corbett from Bloom + Burn, Rowan Lewis of Rowan Blossom and Carly Rogers of Carly Rogers Flowers, will showcase their creations based around their personal memories. The exhibiting florists were handpicked by New Covent Garden Market and the Garden Museum as they represent a mixture of established and emerging British floral talent.
Meet the florists
Ruth Davis, All for Love
All for Love is a leading London florist dedicated to producing the most beautiful event and wedding flowers. They also specialise in large, horticultural sculptures and public art installations.
Founder, Ruth Davis, named the business after her favourite pink rose, which inspires the ethos for everything All for Love do. All flowers are bunched together with love and the team adore making up the flowers. Winners of the UK Wedding Awards 2017, we are thrilled to have Ruth and her team join us for this year’s exhibition.
Terri Chandler and Katie Smyth, Worm
Hailing from the coast of southern Ireland, Katie and Terri are relative newcomers to floristry starting their journey just three years ago in 2016. With Worm starting as a “book and bunch” delivery service in East London, they now design flowers for all sorts of occasions, print and conceptual projects. The two have made a big impact on the floristry scene in London, bringing a stylised and beautifully creative twist to everything they produce.
Inspired by the imperfect wild flowers that grew around them as children, we think Terri and Katie make a perfect fit for British Flowers Week.
Graeme Corbett, Bloom + Burn
Running the business from a modest floral studio in North London, Graeme Corbett discovered a love for floristry after taking a taster course in floral design. Putting aside his 12-year career in casting for prime time entertainment shows Graeme setup Bloom + Burn in 2016 and has never looked back.
The only male florist for this year’s Garden Museum exhibition, Graeme has delivered bouquets and installed floral designs for a number of celebrity clients, with their wedding work taking them across the UK.
Rowan Lewis, Rowan Blossom
After leaving her career in fashion back in 2014, Rowan traded blouses for blooms founding Rowan Blossom that same year. Based in Notting Hill, the coveted florist specialises in wild and seasonal flowers with a client list including Elle, Bloom & Wild and Matthew Williamson.
With her own wedding just around the corner, plus the recent launch of her debut book Living with Flowers, Rowan’s installation for British Flowers Week will complete a hat trick of brilliant achievements.
Carly Rogers, Carly Rogers Flowers
Combining a passion for contemporary art, fashion and beautiful floristry, Carly Rogers Flowers has earned a reputation for going beyond traditional flower arrangement. From large-scale themed events, to weddings and enormous one-off installations for prestigious venues, Carly and her team have a staggering list of clients including Michael Kors, Virgin and Dolce & Gabbana.
Featuring in British Flowers Week 2017, the Camberwell based artist is back to champion British blooms once again and we cannot wait to see what she comes up with.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 11th June for another amazing exhibition of beautiful British blooms at the Garden Museum.
