Day Three | 3 Designs by Matthew Richardson, Urban Flower Co

A diversity of lush foliage forms the backbone of the bold, botanical designs created by Matthew Richardson, founder of Urban Flower Co. His industrial style creations celebrate seasonal British greenery at its very best. And they entrancingly illustrate that foliage can completely steal the limelight…with such a cool vibe.

Showstopper Design | Botanical Installation

A reflection of modern urban living with greenery, this showstopper design features bundles of copper beech, ferns, cotinus, trailing jasmine, genista, skimmia, ivy, oak, privet, grasses and coculus secured to a rustic metal frame.

Parts of the rough grid on this textured backdrop have been left exposed to contrast against the dense foliage.

Technical Design | Double Suspended Piece

Featuring similar greenery to the showstopper, this minimal Japanese inspired design encompasses two garlands mirroring each other. Matt says: “I love the shape and rawness of the honeysuckle in the top garland. I wanted to show how foliage is the skeleton of an arrangement. So, I stripped away the greenery to reveal the framework of the design.”

Signature Design | Hand-Tied

Green hand-tieds are as popular at Urban Flower Co as flower bunches. The different textures of the foliage really allow Matt and his team to create their unstructured natural style with ease.

Brimming with copper beech, beech, coculus, bupleurum, broom, mint, variegated ivy, dicksonia ferns and grasses, this foliage-full design is complemented with bladder campion, poppies and jasmine.
